Visit the underground ruins of the former Palace of Charles V, whose foundations and a street have survived its destruction.
The former princely palace of Charles V dominated the city from the Coudenberg hill as early as the 12th century. Considered one of the most beautiful in Europe, this prestigious building was destroyed by fire in February 1731. The ruins were razed 40 years later to make way for the Place Royale district. Among the archaeological remains of the Coudenberg, we discover the rue Isabelle and the main buildings of the former palace, which served as the foundations of the current royal district. The most beautiful discoveries from the various excavation campaigns are on display.
