LUTHIER JOSE AGOSTINO SERPA

José is one of three builders of the Azores Viola da terra, a type of 12-string guitar typical of these islands. He was born in 1963 in Lajedo, at a time when there was no water, no roads and no electricity. At the age of 11, wanting to learn to play the guitar, he decided to build his own 12-string electric guitar. He taught himself how to play it. His workshop is a place to visit, full of poetry and notes of saudade.
