This tea factory has been in operation since 1883 and still belongs to the family that founded it. If it is more authentic than the one in Porto Formoso and its equally friendly welcome, its visit is less educational. On the other hand, you will be able to admire the line of sight of the plantation and the view that is lost on the horizon; you will also be able to taste free green tea, a variety only found here. Tea growing in the Azores is original and specific to the region, so be sure to visit one of the factories.

Nestled on the verdant slopes of Maia, in the north of the island of São Miguel, this tea factory has been in operation since 1883. As the oldest tea plantation still in operation in Europe, Gorreana invites you to discover exceptional know-how handed down through five generations. Here, you'll discover the different processes involved in tea production, from the plucking of the leaves to their transformation into black or green tea. You'll also be able to explore the tea fields, discover historic machines in operation and learn more about the history of this family-run business. Your visit will be rounded off with a tasting workshop to learn more about the company's organic green and black teas. Gorreana's signature teas include Moinha, Broken Leaf and Bruma. The establishment also offers oolong, gunpowder and flavored green and black tea blends, providing a rich and balanced taste experience. The Gorreana tea factory is an invitation to discover ancestral know-how, appreciate exceptional teas and reconnect with nature. A visit is a must.

J'ai préféré la fabrique de thé de Porto Formoso en termes de produits et de goûts, tandis que Gorreana est nettement meilleure en termes de paysage.
