On the heights, well after the hospital, a nice walk is to ride by taxi to the old house of the Governor, in the direction of Convalescence where a beautiful panorama offers. The road, which is 6 km, leads to what was first a resting place for the Foreign Legion and then a residence for the Governor who came to fresh air. You can still see her bathtub. It has recently been restored. Nice view on the lagoon, Cavani and Petite-terre in the background. You have to come to about 17 p. m. when the light is beautiful. On the way, you will probably be able to cross makis. From here a marked road, the GR, 8 km leads to the village of Koungou: an easy walk from 2 to 3 hours. The return can be done in the brousse. The GR continues on Dzoumogné.
