In a large green park on the edge of a lake, this site tells the story of the arrival of the first Christian missionaries in America in 1565 and returns to the founding of St. Augustine. Don't miss the original casket of Pedro Ménendez de Avilés, the founder of the city, in the museum (his body is now based in Avilés in Spain) and a visit to the beautiful chapel outside. Whether you are interested in religion or not, this site is worth a detour for its great historical value and its pleasant freshness.
