JULIUS-ROMAN MUSEUM
A small, highly educational Julius-Romans museum on the second floor of the tourist office, with many photos.
Interactive museum dedicated to Jules Romains and his work. Videos, touch screen, conservatory with French/English soundtrack, sound room, self-service computers, escape game for children, and exhibition space. This museum is located on the second floor of the tourist office. On display are objects that belonged to Louis-Henri-Jean Farigoule, alias Jules Romains, born in 1885 in the hamlet of La Chapuze, and famous for such works as Docteur Knock and Les Copains. Jules Romains lived in Paris, but remained attached to his native land, to which he returned during vacation periods. He best describes his childhood home in the Odes, a collection of poems, but his entire body of work is inspired by the people and landscapes of the Meygal region. His offices in Paris and Saint-Avertin, his vacation home, are reconstructed, and numerous photos enliven this small, highly didactic museum. Numerous books (biographies and works by Jules Romains) are on sale at the tourist office. Allow around 30 minutes.
