THE GUERRIN MILL
Water mill in Saint-Julien-Chapteuil, dating from the early century, which ceased operations in the 1960s.
This small water mill operates on the river Sumène, in the Combenoire valley. The lock is fed by a canal or "beal" or "bief" that brings water from the river. Spring-fed water mills are quite common in the Meygal region. The Guérin mill is one of them. Dating from the early 20thcentury , its builder gave it its name. Until the 1960s (when the mill ceased operations), millers occupied it continuously. In the early 80s, the Saint-Julien "Lecture et Loisirs" association took charge of restoring the mill and landscaping its surroundings. The mill is now only open to visitors on an occasional basis, as the Saint-Julien-Chapteuil tourist office has terminated its lease with the owner.
