LA PEDREIRA DO PIANO

A curiosity of the island that is worth a visit, especially for lovers of geology/volcanism: the basaltic organs. To get there, starting from Porto Santo towards the west, turn right at the tennis courts, continue on the dirt track that goes around the golf course and then rises a little on the hill (a few hundred meters). At an altitude of 283 metres, one can observe these organs made up of prismatic basalt columns of very irregular shapes, the locality is thus popularly called "piano"
