CAPELA DO SENHOR DOS MILAGRES

In the shade of a tree several hundred years old, the Chapel of Miracles was rebuilt after the floods of 1803 in a neo-Manueline style. According to legend, the statue of Christ that was there, washed away by the floods, and was miraculously found by fishermen three days after its disappearance. On the night of October 8 to 9, a great candlelit procession, called the Festa do Senhor dos Milagres, commemorates this miraculous event.
