This rum distillery has been in existence since 1927 (it still runs on steam!). A visit here is like stepping back in time. You'll discover how rum is created in the old-fashioned way, as machinery and copper stills distill the precious beverage (between March and May). Smell the aromas of sugarcane juice and rum! Right next door, the Casa do Rum offers tastings of the listed rums and the famous poncha (white agricultural rum and honey flavored with orange/lemon or passion fruit) that is the island's pride and joy.
