The castle was built in the place of a Romanesque church in the middle of the th century, at the request of Don Diego Hurtado of Mendoza. It is his son Iñigo who converts it into a palace. The most surprising in its architecture is the towers decorated with small stone cones, niches and Gothic gallery. A wall surrounds the whole building. The interior contains Flemish tapestries from the th century and has a superb view from the towers.
