According to the precepts of The Illustration recommended by Carlos III, in 1781 the Royal Botanical Garden was inaugurated opposite the Botanical Museum (now the Prado Museum) and near the astronomical observatory (in the Retiro Park). It is one of the most important in Europe and depends on the High Council for Scientific Investigation. Spanish and foreign plants are studied and classified. We organize exhibitions, meetings. Greenhouses also have plant species from other climates (desert, tropical).

merveilleux jardin mais....à visiter au printemps acr en hiver la végétation est bien entendu au ralenti et on voit peu de chose

Expo temporaire sur les tulipes, des serres tropicales et des allées agrémentées de carrés fleuris sont au menu de ce jardin botanique. Cependant il n'est pas très grand. A moins d'être connaisseur, il est sympa mais pas exceptionnel

Malheureusement j y suis allée en janvier et le prix restait de 4€ malgré la saison et des travaux dans le jardin.
