Palace among the best examples of union between iron and glass, place of the Philippines exhibition in 1887
This palace, designed by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco (the architect who built the Palacio Velázquez), was used as a greenhouse for the Philippine Exhibition in 1887. It showcased the exotic daily life of these Spanish colonies. The Crystal Palace is considered one of the finest examples of the union of iron and glass. It was inspired by Joseph Paxlon's Crystal Palace, built in London in 1851 for the Universal Exhibition. Today, the Crystal Palace presents exhibitions in partnership with the Reina Sofía Museum.
