Built in 1724 at the request of Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena, this Xarolla windmill was completely renovated in the late 1990s (restoration of the original mechanisms, possibility of processing wheat grains) and is today the only working windmill in Malta. It's well worth a visit, as it's set within a complex of farm buildings, including a farmhouse and a chapel. Managed by the local Council, it is also used as an art studio. It also serves as a cultural center.
