The architecture of Mgarr is not lacking interest. In addition to its many houses with elaborate balconies, you will notice, especially on the way out of the village towards Gnejna, an old fortified house with a central bell tower and watchtowers. This is the Castello Zammitello, which dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and belonged to the wealthy Sant Cassia family. This pretty and quiet residence was used to welcome newlyweds who came to recoil on their honeymoon. The castle has been sold and is very nicely renovated.
