A granite dome, one of the most famous in Yosemite Park, located in the eastern part of the valley and rising to 2,693 meters above sea level

Half Dome is a granite dome, one of the most famous in Yosemite Park, located to the east of the valley. It rises to an altitude of 2,693 metres, visible from the valley below. Long a dream, Half Dome can now be climbed! The route is 13.5 kilometers long, with a positive vertical drop of 1,500 meters. Beware, then, that the hike is classified as an "alpine hike" in terms of difficulty. Not suitable for children, and a climbing permit is required. A dozen climbing routes start from the valley on Half Dome's vertical north-west face.

Magnifique randonnée. La dernière partie est vertigineuse et les câbles sont parfois bondés. Même sans aller jusqu'en haut, cette randonnée vaut la peine de se lever tôt! Prévoir de l'eau en grande quantité!

This long hiking is magnificent from beginning to end, with an one-way different from the return (some extent). It is possible to go at the foot of Half Dome for everyone. The top part of the cables, are accessible only one licence that you can reach with a lottery organised by National Park Service. It will cost you around £9, nothing compared to delight to go up in top shape.
