Huge park that has a visitor center with interactive wildlife demonstrations at Lake Tahoe
This is Lake Tahoe's must-see park. Located 25 kilometers south of Tahoe City, it covers more than 700 hectares. This huge park has a visitor center with interactive wildlife demonstrations, campsites, access to the beach and hikes... Notably the Rubicon Point Light, the highest lighthouse in the United States. Access to the park is from sunrise to sunset. During peak periods, it is recommended to arrive very early because the parking lot is quickly full.

The park was actually closed for repairs, but we walked down to the lake. It's a large campground that is very nice. It even has showers.

If you don't want to do the whole Rubicon trail, you could park here. It's a nice area, usually not crowded.
