Presidio Park with an endless hiking spot hosting picnics and bike rides.
Formerly a military site from the time of the first Spanish settlement and a Mexican garrison before being assigned to the 6th U.S. Army, Presidio Park was turned over to the civilian world in 1994 and has been undergoing permanent development ever since. Accessible from the marina, it is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. You can admire century-old trees, maritime pines knotted by the ocean winds, and be moved by the old red brick military buildings. It's an endless hiking spot.
You will also find in the park several hotels installed in the old barracks, as well as the Walt Disney Museum and, especially, the site of the George Lucas Film Company. You can't get through the door, but Master Yoda is waiting for you right in front of it on his pedestal, and a huge Darth Vader can be seen in the entrance hall.
On the bayfront, San Franciscans gather on sunny weekends on Crissy Fields for picnics and bike rides. There is also a swimming pool, trampolines, a yoga spot, a climbing wall, soon a kindergarten... Then we reach the Golden Gate Bridge, to take this time the ocean coast and leave the bay. However, nothing prevents you from taking the opportunity to cross the bridge, to get lost above the water and admire the whole city over a length of two miles.
