It is the Japanese counterpart of the Chinese parade... The Japantown district parades in April, at the time of the cherry blossoms.

It is the Japanese counterpart of the great Chinese parade... For nearly fifty years, San Francisco's Japantown neighborhood has awakened in April, at the time of the cherry blossoms, to celebrate the Cherry Blossom Festival. The week-long festivities include traditional music, Japanese and Japanese-American music, and the highlight is the big parade on Sunday through Downtown to Japantown. Launched in 1967, the festival now draws some 200,000 people. Come early to get a good seat!
