Elegant hotel in a building dating from 1906, offering 372 rooms on 16 floors
Housed in a 1906 building, redesigned by renowned designer Philippe Starck in a contemporary Baroque style, the hotel's elegance is unparalleled. Spanning 16 floors, the common areas reveal marvels of contrast in black and white. The 372 guest rooms, decorated in soothing classical tones and furnishings, offer splendid views over Union Square. But the best part is the sublime Redwood Bar, with its 1930s woodwork and paintings by Klimt students.

Pros:
- The room (as described above)
- The staff (all very nice)
- The location (as needed to get to the Moscone Center every day).
- The Redwood Room (bar) - It's iconic and must have at least one cocktail there if you plan on staying at The Clift.
Cons:
- The location (as it's a zombie apocalypse outside) - I do not recommend walking in this area alone (especially at night).
- I got charged $75 for an early check in - I mean if the room was already ready/available - no need to charge me for that. With that said, I got an upgrade out of it so it kind of evened out.
All and all - I had a great stay at The Clift and would very much recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have a nice room in San Francisco.
