A few walks are to be made on the shores of Ruataniwha and Ohau lakes. The first is only 5 minutes from Twizel. It is an artificial lake formed following the construction of the hydroelectric power plant. The place is known for its rowing races. Ohau Lake, nicknamed the "Hidden Jewel", is the only lake in Mackenzie country that is not a glacial formation.
