The visitor center of the park is located in Whakapapa Village and is an ESSENTIAL step before going on the trails. We insist. Everywhere in New Zealand the weather conditions are capricious, but it is particularly true in Tongariro, which can make it dangerous if you are not well prepared. The rangers will have more precise weather reports than those found online and will be able to give you temperatures and wind strength in the heights.

Point information très sympa et très complet. Une sorte de petite office de tourisme pour les touristes de passage à Whakapapa Village. On pourraici se renseigner sur les treks et randonnées à faire dans la région, mais aussi sur la station de ski à quelques kms plus haut (à peine 10 minutes de voiture). Le point information dispose aussi d'une boutique et d'une sorte de petit musée avec un kiwi empaillé impressionnant.
