Situated on a rocky spur overlooking the Loire, the site is spectacular. The residence of the Dukes of Polignac, it was built in the 13th century and remodeled in the 16th and 17th centuries. The duke rightly claimed to own the first château on the Loire. The site, still occupied by descendants, is open to visitors. You'll find a portrait gallery, Regency furniture, a fine art collection and beautiful formal gardens.
