The Catholic community of Pointe Coupee is one of the oldest in Louisiana, dating back to 1728. A small church existed as early as 1823; the present church was built between 1904 and 1907 to designs by architect Theodore Brune. It features a beautiful carved altar, stained glass windows from Germany, and a Stations of the Cross in oil paint.
