This small village of 5,000 inhabitants is located in the area of the marble quarries of the Riviera dei Marmi from which the best marble in Sicily, one of the most famous in the country, is extracted. Custonaci was created from scratch in the 18th century by the Bourbons, and is best known for the sanctuary of the Madonna of Custonaci, which predates the village, dating back to the 15th century. The elements that can be seen today date back to the 16th century, when it was rebuilt. One of the highlights is an altarpiece of the Flemish school, painted on wood, representing a Virgin and Child. Opposite, a magnificent pebble mosaic parterre
