Desire for peace and relaxation? Get Mean away from Mar Moussa. This monastery built in the mountains, in the middle of a rocky desert, desolate and silent, accommodates and nourishes visitors for the duration of their choice. The place has resumed since 1991 thanks to the persistence of a community of monks and dynamic nuns, animated by Father Paolo, an Italian Jesuit ordained priest of Syriac Catholic rite. It is one of the most impressive religious sites in Qalamoun. There are a few hours, the night or several days. If you count only in the afternoon, you can already change your plans, this place over time will quickly forget the way back. This monastery is undoubtedly one of the most enchanting sites in the region. There, majesty, peace, calm and fullness abound. Whether you are Jewish or Christian, Muslim or atheist, you will not get out of Mar Moussa unscathed. There are places that transport you, this monastery is those. A rare and unique atmosphere, at the limit of the mystic, in short, an unforgettable experience for who knows how to open up to the mysteries of divine.Attention: from the foot of the cliff and before seeing the facade and the small door of the monastery, you have to climb around 300 steps. Take a good half hour (avoid hot hours). On the way, note the ingenious pulley system put in place for the community supply.
