Route 21 runs from Tornio to Kilpisjärvi along the Tornio River. Along the way, it offers many pleasant stops. Aavasaksa's only point of interest is its "Sun Hill", which attracts many visitors every year who come here to admire the midnight sun at the level of the Arctic Circle. In summer, numerous hiking trails lead along the river and through the forest. At the top of the hill, you'll find an observation tower, a house built for a tsar and a pavilion that serves as a café in summer. The surrounding national park is protected.
