CABALLERIZAS REALES

The former Royal Stables of the horse-loving King Filipe II, dating back to the 16th century, have naturally been transformed into the International Horse Center, presenting the purebred Spanish equestrian show "Pasión y Duende del Caballo Andaluz", to be seen to appreciate the Andalusian pas accompanied by flamenco! Beauty, intelligence and nobility are the words most often used to describe the animals in action during this ballet, which can be completed, why not, at the Yeguada Almuraza (www.yeguadaalmuzara.com), a stud farm some ten kilometers from Cordoba, on the way to Palma del Rio. A great bargain if you don't go to Jerez to visit its Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art during your trip.

TABLAO CARDENAL

Concert halls

Near La Mezquita, in the evening, it is one of the few lively places in the historic district. There are mainly tourists who come to see flamenco shows, with singers, musicians and dancers. However, it is in a rather intimate atmosphere - in the patio of an authentic Andalusian palace-house - that these flamboyant artists, often rightly awarded, evolve. The ensemble knows how to show itself to be of high quality, thanks in particular to the orchestration of Alicia Carmona, the master of this place. Reservation recommended.

GRAN TEATRO

Concert halls

Built in 1871, it is the work of the architect Amadeo Rodríguez which was inaugurated in 1973 with the staging of the zarzuela "Marta". Closed in 1970, it has undergone various restructurings that have not affected its original configuration as a large Italian theatre. Classified as a property of historical and artistic interest in 1982, it is now owned by the City Council of Córdoba and serves as a majestic setting for most of the major events and shows on the municipal cultural agenda: theatre, dance, music, flamenco. Programming to follow online.
