The museum houses fossil remains (mammoths, mastodons, saber-toothed tigers, etc.) found at Chilhac and dating back 2 million years.
Located on a basalt organ cliff overlooking the river, the museum takes you back two million years in an hour. The first floor features southern mammoths and Auvergne mastodons, while the second floor provides information on other species discovered on the site: rhinoceros, zebra, red deer, hyena.... An educational booklet is available for children to enjoy a fun-filled visit.

Après 45 min de trajet nous arrivons devant le musée. Personne n'est présent nous appelons le numéro indiqué pendant 30min avant qu'enfin quelqu'un daigne nous répondre. Moralité alors que la porte à l'entrée soit ouverte on nous assure que le musée est désormais fermé les week-ends malgré ce qui est indiqué sur le site internet. 1h30 de trajet pour rien et un week-end gâché. Merci beaucoup.

Petit musée très appréciable. La vidéo d'introduction est instructive et intéressante. Les fossiles sont locaux, bien exposés et très beaux ! Le tout dans un jolie petit village. Je recommande
