CHALETS CHAMAREL
On the Chamarel crest, 11 chalets with exceptional panoramic views, restaurant, swimming pool, green activities
Perched on the ridges of Chamarel, this address stands out for its exceptional panorama. From each of the 11 chalets, the restaurant and the infinity pool, you can enjoy an almost circular view of the wooded Chamarel valley on one side and the entire west coast of Mauritius on the other: forests, lagoon, islets, Le Morne mountain... A moment of contemplation. We're in the heart of a nature reserve offering a wide range of green activities. But there's nothing rustic about it: each lodge offers the comforts of a luxury hotel room with a tasteful decor.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights to celebrate our anniversary which we mentioned on the booking but they didn’t really care because nothing was done or offered from their part, the only good thing about the hotel is its view and the room decor. There isn’t much to do there, since the hotel is on the mountains and the hotel doesn’t have any fun things to do, most places/activities in Mauritius close around 6pm so you would be stuck at the hotel with nothing to do until the next day. There are no spas or any other amenities at this hotel. As for the cleanliness of the room I wouldn’t call it clean at all because the day of our check out I found a dead lizard behind the curtains and it looked like its been dead for over a week before we even stayed at this hotel and when I mentioned it to one of the receptionists she didn’t even apologize for that.
The staff at the restaurant are either ignorant or pretending to be, my husband ordered well done boiled eggs for breakfast and they were clearly runny, so the waiter came and when my husband asked him, “is this well done?”He says “yes” and leaves. The service in the restaurant is poor as well as the breakfast options and taste. Breakfast and dinner is extremely bland and not edible. The only reason why you would eat is because you dont want to starve. The waiters give you a vibe that they’re just waiting for you to finish your food and leave the restaurant so that they can close.
Food is terrible, disgusting, lack of flavour, very few options (main course just 3 options to choose from) and the rest of the options you have to pay a crazy amount extra. Chalet looks beautiful and has a lot of room, but we had to kill at least 10 cockroaches a day. Bed is way too hard, wich was a downside. We also had a talk with some of the guests who claim their valuables were stolen by the staff, even an engagement ring was taken. Last but not least is the service, some who work there are nice and friendly, others just ignore you. Even when you thank them when they take your plate, they just look angry at you. A chalet that is this expensive, it's just not the quality that you expect, especially the food. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy...
