A true gem of Romanesque art, Saint-Julien Basilica is the largest Romanesque church in Auvergne. Listed as a French historic monument since 1840, it features contemporary stained glass windows (the work of world-renowned artist and Dominican priest Kim En Joong) that offer a luminous, colorful approach. The rich polychromy of the stonework, the quality of the frescoes in the nave of the chapel of Saint-Michel (ask for the keys at the tourist office), and the Gothic statues are what make this building so famous. A visit not to be missed.

Depuis la tribune vous aurez une excellente vue sur un pavage unique en France, un sol en galets noirs et blanc provenant de l'Allier tout proche. Chaque mètre est différent comme si les gens de l'époque avaient réalisé chacun leur petit coin. (ce sol a été découvert par hasard lors de travaux car il avait été caché sous 40 cm de remblai) .
Prenez aussi le temps de parcourir les rues environnantes et admirez les exceptionnelles façades anciennes de la vieille ville comme l’hôtel de la dentelle) .
