THE CASTLE OF THE MONK SACRISTAN
Château housing the Musée de la Vigne et du Vin, a 1920s-style classroom and a rural area in Aurec-sur-Loire.
Overlooking the Loire, the Château du Moine-Sacristain, home to the steward of the Prior of Aurec from the 15th to 18th centuries, houses a Vine and Wine Museum, a 1920s-style classroom, a rural area with a surprising clogmaker's, nailmaker's and carpenter's workshop, and an antique kitchen with a monumental 16th-century fireplace. There's also a 1900s clothing room with sewing machines, lingerie and accessories. The French ceilings and fireplaces from the 17th and 18th centuries are remarkable, and are also present in the exhibition rooms. Also of note are the religious space and the 16th-century staircase tower. Regular exhibitions are held here in summer. Out of season, please enquire about opening times. Groups can visit all year round by appointment.
