75,000 photovoltaic panels cover 40 hectares of arid land. In a region where the sun shines more than 2,000 hours a year, this solar power plant is a godsend for the inhabitants, 60% of whom had no access to electricity. With a capacity of 20 megawatts, it now provides around 160,000 people with electricity! This large-scale photovoltaic field has since been dethroned as the largest power plant in West Africa by the Zagtouli plant in Burkina Faso, with its 129,600 panels and 260 megawatts.
