On the N2 road, we come across Kébémer, capital of the commune where the national stud farm of Senegal is located. The family of former president Abdoulaye Wade is originally from this locality. If his official biography mentions that he was born in May 1926 in Saint-Louis, other sources strongly maintain that Wade was born in Kébémer. His parents and older brother are buried there. Here, people have been searching for a better future under other skies since the 1970s. The émigré - the modou-modou - works, slaves and sends his family enough money for food, clothing, housing and even the prettiest girls in the area.
