Diourbel is the capital of the region of the same name, the historic heart of the Baol. This city located 146 km east of Dakar remains, however, for many non-Senegalese, less known than the city of Touba, stronghold of the Mouride brotherhood, which has become an important agglomeration. However, it is there that the founder of Mouridism, Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké, had his first mosque built. But it is in Touba that most of the activities are concentrated (petrol stations, banks, shops...). Nevertheless, you will find a bank, in front of the town hall, Escale district, which has a cash dispenser and a Western Union point.
