Getting around by bus and coach Dakar

The urban transport company, Dakar Dem Dikk (round trip in Wolof), has an extensive bus network serving the many districts of the capital and its surroundings. Since 2017, it has also set up new lines serving the interior of the country, such as Saint-Louis, Matam, Tambacounda and Ziguinchor. Timetables are fixed and respected, the buses are air-conditioned and quite comfortable. From the airport, express shuttles regularly make the journey to Dakar and Thies. It is also possible to go to Banjul from Dakar.

Since 2014, the Baux-Maraîchers bus station has been welcoming travellers wishing to use public transport. It is much neater and cleaner than the former "Pompiers" station, and it is easy to find your way around. Bush taxis, minibuses and buses leave for almost all the country's domestic destinations. There is no set timetable, you have to wait until the vehicle is full before it starts. Prices are fixed, varying according to the destination.
