Manzanillo is shaped like an urban crescent that stretches along the edge of the twin bays, Bahía Manzanillo and Bahía Santiago, separated by the peninsula of the same name. Surrounded by beautiful green mountains and a deep blue sea, the city is best known for being home to the country's most important port, located at one end of Bahia Manzanillo. The city is considered the world capital of the Pez Vela (Indo-American sailing boat) fishing and hosts international tournaments. From May to October, it receives mostly visitors from neighboring states, while Americans and Canadians visit during the winter months.
