Hacienda built by the pirate and slave trader Fermin Antonio Mundaca de Marechaga to seduce a woman in Isla Mujeres
It was built by the pirate and slave trader Fermín Antonio Mundaca de Marechaga to seduce a woman known as La Trigueña (the brunette), with whom he fell madly in love, but in vain. Legend has it that he went mad and died in the solitude of his immense property. One can visit the large gardens where various small arches separate the spaces; the house itself, of a disconcerting simplicity, is not very interesting. Closed since 2019, it should reopen its doors to the public, after renovation, at the end of 2022.
