CASA MONTEJO
A house, a unique example of a civil construction in Renaissance style, built between 1542 and 1549 in Merida
Built between 1542 and 1549 by Francisco de Montejo, sent by the Spanish crown to conquer the peninsula, this house is a unique example of Renaissance-style civil construction. In 2010, the Fomento Cultural Banamex Foundation converted it into a museum, whose 3 permanent exhibition rooms tell the story of its 400-year history. After wandering among the 19th-century furniture, you'll appreciate the temporary exhibitions by Mexican artists in a variety of styles, as well as the bookshop and interactive center that enrich the visit.
