Home to the city's museum, which tackles the myths of pirate and buccaneer raids head-on
This pentagonal bastion was the first to be incorporated into the fortifications of San Francisco de Campeche. Its name pays homage to Carlos II, who was King of Spain between 1665 and 1700. Today it houses the City Museum, which tackles head-on the myths about the raids on the city by pirates, buccaneers and buccaneers. The two rooms in its basement are said to have been used as a storage area for explosive powder or as a prison. Informative and entertaining.

Petite visite
Petit musée, rapide à visiter. Rien d’extraordinaire mais permet de faire une pause lors d’une balade sur les remparts.
