To get downtown: cab, bus (irregular and inconvenient, as they stop at the end of Avenida Las Américas and don't go as far as the colonial zone), or VTC if you have Internet access. There is no departure tax if your stay is less than 31 days. If you stay from 1 to 3 months, you'll have to pay an additional $3,500, $5,600 from 3 to 9 months, and $7,000 from 9 months to 1 year.

The Dr Joaquin Balaguer airport also offers international flights, but only to the Caribbean. Be careful, the road to get there is not well signposted. Do not hesitate to ask for directions, the locals will tell you how to get there.
