MONUMENT AUX MORTS
Inaugurated in the 1920s, this monument pays tribute to the Guadeloupeans who fell in the First World War. It stands out for its depiction of a West Indian soldier in uniform, a rare artistic choice for the period, and one that carries great meaning. This poilu, sculpted full-length, embodies the memory of the warriors from the colonies and testifies to their commitment to France. A place of remembrance, steeped in history and gratitude. Every year, the site brings together the local population on national days of remembrance (November 11 & May 8).
