Situated at an altitude of 900 metres, this protected site is of rare beauty. Great hiking, but beware of summer crowds.

A postcard setting in the heart of the Chartreuse massif! The Cirque de Saint-Même, surrounded by vertiginous cliffs and enlivened by its four spectacular waterfalls, is one of those magical places where you feel so small in the face of nature.

Easily accessible from the parking lot (for a fee in season), the site offers several trails suitable for all levels. Family hikes take you effortlessly to the foot of the waterfalls, while the more energetic can climb to the lookouts to admire the breathtaking panorama. As you walk, you'll enjoy a cool, wild and soothing atmosphere, ideal for hot summer days. The site remains very popular at weekends, so it's best to come early or during the week to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Opening time and information on SAINT-MÊME CIRCUS

Open all year round. The parking of the circus of Saint-Même is paying part of the year: 3,50 € for a car or a camper, 2 € for a motorcycle, on public holidays of April-May, July and August and every Saturday and Sunday of June and September. As this is a protected natural area, when the parking lot of the circus is full, the barrier at Saint-Même le bas is closed and access to the circus by vehicle is forbidden.

Pour les amateurs de randonnée. Il y a plusieurs circuits. Le conseil est d avour de bonnes chaussures de marche c grimpe pas mal mais ca vaut le détour. Une belle cascade à l arrivée

A walk to make the towers of the waterfalls without tiring themselves too, making beautiful photo and to refresh the summer days. Possibility spade picnic in foot on the banks of the river. A super setting to blow during a weekend. Nearby many other walks to do, tours (museum, village, castle.), and a cheese factory making it an excellent cheese of the Beaufort type. The site also has a large car park and something to eat nearby. A little further down in the village a small inn offers homemade ice cream, pies with blueberries, and refreshments.

Starting point for many walks for all levels! For beginners, the promenade near Guiers waterfalls is a real delight for the eyes and is perfect for a photo session in a natural setting.
