An abbey, founded in 1132, known for its delicious cheese at Plancherine, a nearby visitor center at 900 m altitude.
Founded in 1132 by Cistercian monks from Bonnevaux, Tamié Abbey stands in a lush, unspoilt natural setting at 900 meters altitude, in the heart of a valley that harmoniously links the Bauges and Tarentaise regions. The monastery, destroyed several times and then patiently rebuilt, is inhabited today by a community of around 25 monks who live according to the rule of Saint Benedict: "pray and work". Their daily routine alternates between services, meditation, spiritual guidance and traditional crafts. A precious symbol of this know-how, Tamié cheese has been made here since the Middle Ages. Made from local milk collected from neighboring farms, it is carefully processed on site. The monks take care of every stage: curdling, molding, salting and maturing in vaulted cellars. Production reaches around 400 kg a day, producing a cheese with a creamy paste, subtle fruity aromas and a characteristic blond rind. A true ambassador for the abbey, it is sold in a store just 300 metres from the monastery. Although the abbey is not open to the public, visitors can take a pleasant hike to the site, which offers spectacular views of the Combe de Savoie and the Alpine peaks. A picnic area has been set aside for visitors to enjoy the peace and quiet. In summer, a botanical trail invites you to explore the local flora, offering a unique opportunity to discover medicinal and endemic plants.

Les enseignements et retraites avec ou sans thèmes m'ont toujours beaucoup apporté.
La retraite sur la Gratitude m'a particulièrement touchée de part ses intervenants et contenu, ainsi que les journées animées (espérance.....) par le père Bruno.
