ÉGLISE NOTRE-DAME-DE-L'ASSOMPTION
Church featuring murals, paintings of the choir dome and an altarpiece with three paintings, including the Assumption.
In the center of Aussois, the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption is a Baroque mountain gem. Built in the XIIᵉ century and then enlarged in 1648, it has often been restored due to unstable ground. Behind its sober facade, it reveals a great wealth: sculpted cornice on the portal, fresco of the Last Judgement, twisted columns and choir vault decorated "à la perle". It blends art, history and spirituality, and bears witness to Savoyard fervor in the heart of the Alps.
