SKIS ROSSIGNOL SAS

Rossignol is one of the emblematic brands of sliding sports. For over a century, it has produced a range of products for the practice of the mountain, summer and winter. A world leader in alpine skiing, part of its products is certified Origin France Guarantee.

History. In 1907, a passionate ski carpenter, Abel Rossignol, realized his first pair of artisanal skis in solid wood. The Rossignol quality proved not only to the amateurs but also to the great sportsmen like Emile Allais who became world champion in 1937. In 1948, Henri Oreiller was sacred Olympic champion paved Olympic skiing 41. The legend was born. In 1956 Laurent Bois-Vives took over the company and opened it up to the international market. The result is half a century of success. In 1960, Jean Vuarnet won the Sqwaw Valley JO with the mythical Allais 60, the first metal skis. In 1964, Rossignol made a sensation with the first pair of fiberglass skis, Strato. After the 1970 s, the brand settled in the United States and became the world leader in alpine skiing. In the 1990 s, it began to diversify its product range.

The products. Rossignol is the specialist in alpine skiing (shoes, fixations, masks, sticks, protection…). The brand also manufactures snowboards (boards, fixations, boots…), cross-country ski articles, and a complete collection of technical textiles.

Employment. The Rossignol group employs 645 people in France on the production sites of Saint-Jean de Moirans (Isère), Sallanches (Haute-Savoie), Nevers (Nièvre) and Saint-Etienne-de-Saint-Geoirs (Isère). He sold 880,000 pairs of skis over the year 2015-2016. Its turnover amounts to EUR 200 million in 2017.
