Annecy sees its streets invaded by the herds for the greatest happiness of the visitors. An authentic and friendly festival.
It's a fine tradition that can be found in many towns in the Alps. At the end of summer, herds and alpacists come down from the summer pastures where they have spent the summer months, to warm up in the valley. This return has been celebrated since the Middle Ages. On the2nd Saturday in October, the streets of Annecy are invaded by herds. Craftsmen, old trades, folk groups, singers and local producers give visitors a chance to discover Savoyard crafts and traditions. It's also a not-to-be-missed event for the locals, who celebrate the arrival of the cold season in their own way. In this way, the festival remains completely authentic and convivial!
