The Lake Annecy Marathon is one of the oldest marathons as it has been running for over thirty years. An experience that allows the organizers to offer a quality event between lake and mountain. It is one of the top 10 French marathons with its 3,000 runners who come to the start line every year. Not to be missed!

practical information

date: usually organised in mid-April, the next edition of the Annecy Marathon will take place on 19 April 2015 and will celebrate its 36th anniversary on this occasion. This is a pleasant time to visit the Annecy region after a winter that can sometimes be quite harsh.

registration date: to participate, don't waste time and make up your mind well in advance. Internet registration (no on-site registration). Deadline for registration: 06/04/2015 midnight

maximum number of participants: in total, a maximum of 3,500 runners can be accommodated for the marathon; 3,000 participants, 2,433 finishers in 2014. A quite honourable figure which makes the Lake Annecy Marathon a major sporting event in a majestic setting

price : marathon 49 €. half-marathon 33 €.

registration: registration is mainly done online on the website dedicated to the event. Your engagement is registered in a few clicks. It is also always possible to contact the organizers by mail.

the most: Saturday evening Pasta Party at the Impérial Palace in Annecy (places limited to the first registered). Village Marathon Centre Bonlieu on Saturday and Esplanade du Pâquier on Sunday. Musical entertainment along the route and at the finish. Abandonment and rescue stations every 5 km. Massages, chiropodist, changing rooms, runners' bag guards, showers, free parking.

withdrawal of race numbers: on 18/04/2015 from 10 am to 6 pm and on 19/04/2015 from 7.15 am to 8.15 am (for the marathon) and from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm (for the half-marathon).

race time: marathon start time: 8.30 am. half-marathon start time: 2.30 pm.

starting points of the 2 races: avenue d'Albigny in Annecy.

other races: the Lake Annecy half-marathon is organised at the same time and brings together more than 4,000 runners each year. Classified arrivals: 3,550. On the same day, the marathons of Nantes, Azay le Rideau, Albi take place.

The course

It's a beautiful course intertwined with mountains along the west shore of the lake. Flat and fast course. Round trip between Annecy and Doussard for the marathon and between Annecy and St-Jorioz for the half-marathon.

interest: the Annecy Marathon is one of the oldest in France and will celebrate its 36th anniversary in 2015 in an atmosphere as always friendly. A marathon on a human scale where you won't be alone or suffocated by the crowd. The circuit, starting from Annecy, will take you through the towns of Sevrier, Saint-Jorioz, the Duingt tunnel, and Doussard to finally come back on your steps. The landscapes crossed along the route are reputed to be majestic. Thus, you will enjoy the charms of the "Venice of the Alps" and the panorama offered by the shores of Lake Annecy nicknamed the "blue" lake, one of the largest French glacial lakes at the foot of the Alpine massifs

Difficulty: it is a city tour on a cycle path entirely tarmac and without any particular difficulty. The Annecy Marathon offers a course conducive to performance.

difference in altitude: Lake Annecy is located at an altitude of about 500 metres. The route is relatively flat and rolling with, all the same, a few false flats to cross.

temperature: at this time of the year, temperatures can still be quite low and vary between 5°C and 16°C. It is advisable to provide appropriate equipment for the cold, especially for waiting times.

refreshments: according to the regulations for off-stage races in force, refreshment points are set out along the race route approximately every 5 km, with sponge points and emergency-abandonment points as well.

services at the finish line: at the finish line, runners can benefit from the presence of guarded changing rooms, but also showers
