Visit to discover a remarkable slate quarry in Morzine, one of the last 4 slate quarries in France.

Slate, traditionally used for roofing in certain regions, including Savoie, was discovered in the 10th century. The Ardoisière des 7 Pieds is one of the last 4 sites of exploitation of this rock in France. This factory owes its survival to Franck Buet, a slate quarryman himself, who guides visitors through his workshop. He presents the history and the manufacturing technique - the extraction, the work carried out in the shale mine and the cutting - of the shale slate (or lauze). A visit rich in anecdotes and explanations.
