The Mastrou, a coal-powered steam train that took passengers to the famous Lamastre market, is back in service.
Come aboard the Mastrou, the historic train that has been running along the Chemin de Fer du Vivarais line since 1891, and discover the beautiful Doux valley. This little steam train offers a ride at the pace of yesteryear, in a truly astonishing natural setting. At the time, it served all the stations on its route. Today, this line, "Le Mastrou", is very popular with tourists during the high season. It's one of the local sights that's well worth a visit.

Bicycle reception. High season: open Tuesdays from 8:30 am. From Tournon - St Jean to Lamastre one way or return. Check timetable on site. Booking recommended. Free for children under 10. Train des Gorges

The Train des Gorges offers a round trip from the T. St Jean de Muzols station to the country station of Colombier le Vieux / St Barthélémy le Plain. Over 8 kilometers, discover the wildest part of the Doux Valley, where the railroad clings to the cliffside and passes through a 265-meter-long tunnel. On arrival, the 44-ton steam locomotive is turned over the swing bridge.
Mastrou

Come aboard the Mastrou, and discover our entire line, from T. St Jean de Muzols station to Lamastre. The railroad is the only way to admire the wild landscapes of the Doux Valley, a river it follows for 28 kilometers, crossing bridges, viaducts and tunnels. From the Gorges du Doux to the Ardèche plateau, through orchards and chestnut groves, you won't miss a thing of the Ardèche verte!

Departing from the T. St Jean de Muzols station, climb aboard the "Mastrou" for a timeless journey. Discover the Gorges du Doux, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area, as far as the village of Boucieu-le-Roi.
Then climb aboard the "pedal carts" for an 8 km tour of the upper Doux valley. Cross orchards and enjoy panoramic views of the valley's villages.
